Extracting Data

Postby ABLsaurusRex » Sun Jan 18, 2009 1:43 pm

I have a 500MB gzipped tar file I transferred from my linux system to my Windows system running Windows 2003.

I put the tgz file into ForumData, pointed both the left and right window to ForumData, clicked on the tgz file in the left window, clicked the unpack button and the Unpacking Files dialog appeared.

Right now I'm at elapsed time 29m 30 sec minutes and absolutely no files have been unpacked. It appears I missed a step (besides not reading the documentation  ).

Am I supposed to wait? kill it ? reboot?

I think you're using an "old" version of muCommander where unpacking of large tgz files was slow as hell. Could you try it again with the nightly build, which should have vastly improved unpacking performances?

Thanks!

Hey there,

I'm not sure what happened there. Your post contained a clear spam link, but is extremely relevant to muCommander. Either spammers are getting desperate these days, or you included the link "by mistake". I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, if only because it would be pathetic for a spammer to spend long enough to learn about muCommander's shortcuts and possible bugs before spamming a forum that sees relatively little traffic.

I haven't been able to reproduce the bug you're describing - which version of muCommander are you running ? If it isn't the latest one (0.8.4 at the time of writing), consider upgrading. If it is, something's messed up and I need to look into it. Could you give me more information about the OS you're running, the Java version you're running muCommander on... ? You can find all this information about the bottom of the about dialog.

Cheers,
Nicolas
