Is there any way to easily access roots of partitions?

Postby tikomir » Fri Mar 18, 2011 10:42 pm

Is there any way to easily access partitions?

For example, if I want to change from C: partition under Windows, to D: partiton, I must use mouse, or go to the menu Alt+G and then use down arrow key to reach desired partioton letter.

Why there is no "quick list" or "custom definable hot keys" for such thing?

Hey tikomir,

Great idea!
I've added a quick-list for this. it's initiated by ALT+5 keystroke.
It would be tommorow in the nightly build version.
Could you please add your feedback for it in our task tracking system (http://trac.mucommander.com/ticket/400) ?

Thanks for accepting this requirement.
It works in Win7, but I spoted one issue. I can switch from Alt+1 to Alt+4, forth and back in any order, but I can't switch to Alt+5 from some other popup (Alt+1 to Alt+4), although reverse is possible. Besides, I can't switch to Alt+5 if I previously closed any of the Alt+1 to Alt+4, until I manually focus on the folders panel.

You have forgot to add this feature in the menu item: Go -> Quick lists

Hey,

I can't reproduce it.

Could you please check the following video:
http://www.upf.co.il/file/528597407.html
(This site is in hebrew - just wait for the timer to stop counting and press the button that would appear)
I capture the screen while I switched between alt+1 to alt+5 forth and back without a problem.

Let me know if I miss something.
If that's excatly the same operations you did and it work - I'll discuess it with Maxence to think about possible reasons for that.

Thanks,
Arik

Yes, it works now (9.00 am, SE Europe). Last night (10:00 pm) it didn't. Maybe it is due to not updated nightly bild which I downloaded from the home page.

Nevertheless, I'll switch back to v0.8.5, because bookmarked ftp connections are not usable. Besides, on first list of bookmarks (Alt+4), wait cursor happens to appear (instead of regular icon) at the place of ftp links. So, it is very annoying. There are no such problems in v0.8.5.

Wrong name of the menu item

Go - Quick lists -> ShowRootsQL.label

Hey tikomir,

Could you please fill a bug in the Trac system?
That way we won't miss it as we're planning the 0.8.6 release and you'll be informed when those issues are fixed.

Fixed. will be updated in tommorow's nightly build.

Thanks for your feedback,

Maybe not a bad idea would be to join quick lists Alt+1 and Alt+5 into Alt+1 and leave Alt+5 for something else.?
