Forums makeover - phpBB3

Postby maxence » Thu Jan 10, 2008 12:21 pm

These forums have undergone some surgery and been upgraded from phpBB2 to phpBB3. phpBB3 comes with a slew of new features and usability improvements. One of particular interest is the ability to attach files to a post, without having to rely on a 3rd party website to host the files. This should come in handy when posting a screenshot or submitting a patch.

On the downside, the RSS forums feed is disabled because of the lack of a phpBB3-compatible mod. I'll keep an eye on this, but alternatively you can subscribe to a forum and be notified whenever a new post is submitted : just click the 'Subscribe forum' link at the bottom of a forum index page.

This phpBB3 install is very fresh so please report anything that doesn't work or looks weird.
Next on the list: a bug tracking tool (Bugzilla) and a Wiki.

Cheers,
Maxence

Yes, I would like to, but there is no such a link. At least not for my user. This is what I was asking for [url=http://www.mucommander.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3542]here[/url].

By the way: if you're asking what's weird: the lack of bbcode here is weird :)

It's not like that. Only NEWS forum has these disadvantages. No bbcode, no subscribe forum, no editions. Other boards work well.
